UPI launches two post-patent herbicides

UPI logoKing of Prussia, Pa.-based United Phosphorus Inc.—also known as UPI—recently launched two post-patent herbicides.

Moccasin contains the active ingredient S-metolachlor. Labeled for a wide spectrum of crops, including soybeans, cotton and peanuts, the soil-applied herbicide has multiple application timings.

Moccasin is not registered in all states, notably New York and Virginia, so check with state or local regulators before using.

Shutdown is a soil-applied long-residual herbicide that can be used alone or as a tankmix partner with a variety of pre-emergent herbicides. It is labeled for several crops, including soybeans.

Shutdown, which contains sulfentrazone, has a higher active ingredient loading than other similar products, according to a news release. It is not registered in all states, most notably California and New York, so check with state or local regulators before using.
